Marketing

Campaigning

When I ran for both student body president and junior class president of my high school, Brevard High, I believe that all of the marketing I was involved in during campaigning insured I would win both positions.

Junior Class President

Starting with my run as Junior class president, with the help of my friend and running mate, Zander Jaques, we created this poster which aligned me with “Johnny Appleseed,”one of my nicknames in high school. We posted it all throughout the school, along with used social media as shown below, to get the word out on our campaign.

Student Body President

Moving on to my run for student body president, I went bigger and bolder with the campaign by creating stickers and seed packets, which included three appleseeds inclosed in packet with a caricature of me on the front. I handed out more than 100 of both to my fellow students, and was given the opportunity to know who I was running for on greater scale.

I created an Instagram for the campaign that did not accumulate the most follows, but it did make a place for posts that my supporters could share on their accounts.

Through that experience I learned the importance of not only having a concise message that could easily be spread, but making sure that its delivery was as entertaining as it could be.

“Torch the Tigers”

As student body president I was tasked by the principal of the school to make and sell t-shirts for a rival game, two weeks before it was to take place. I was crunched for time, but got the assignment done. Even though designing the shirt was difficult, which depicts my high school mascot which is sadly a blue devil who is “torching” the rivals tiger mascot, selling the shirt was the most time consuming. I would spend each lunch period leading up to the game selling the shirts in the cafeteria hallways. As I learned from my past experiences, online marketing is the most effective when it comes to getting the word out. I posted a couple times on my Instagram along with had a picture posted onto my county schools Instagram as well.
